IC Information:
Name: Torin, reincarnated as Tater the Red and Blue Lory
Canon and medium: Voltasaur Sentai Kyoryuger, live-action
Age: In-canon, Torin was at least 100 million years old. Tater is about
six years old.
Preincarnation Species: Deboss bird-man-lizard-thing.
Preincarnation Appearance: Here's an image.
Any differences: Torin is now a species of parrot known as a red and blue lory. They're small parrots, standing about a foot high, and are not at all alien.

Preincarnated History: Torin started out as part of the Deboss Army, a group of hostile aliens who set out to drive everything in the galaxy to extinction. When he arrived on Earth, he was struck with the beauty and potential of the place, and he vowed to instead defend it. He was unable to prevent the current dominant life-form on Earth, the dinosaurs, from falling to extinction to the Deboss, but he was able to help fight against the Deboss to the degree that they were gravely weakened by the effort.

Throughout the millenia, Torin has worked with a handful of dinosaurs he has modified to survive and attack the Deboss through partnering these dinosaurs, now known as Voltasaurs, with human partners known as Kyoryugers. He served as the Kyoryugers' mentor figure for a long time until his true origins as an agent of Deboss were revealed. The Deboss tried to use his true nature against him, and during the course of this, he died, only to be revived through the efforts of the other Kyoryugers. Following this, he became a living conduit for bravery, thusly rejecting any and all ties he held to the Deboss. He partnered with the Voltasaur Bragigas and served as the Radiant Hero, Kyoryu Silver, the tenth and final member of the Kyoryugers.

A more thorough history may be found here. I've been using different translations from the wiki; there are a few differences in terminology.

Reincarnated History: The great Paragon Supreme Torin found himself reincarnated as a Red and Blue Lory, a small subspecies of endangered parrot. He was born as part of a breeding program at the Locke City Zoo, where one of the zookeepers gave the parrot the distinguished name of Tater. He grew up in the rainforest bird exhibit. The exhibit is a nature trail sort of thing, where the birds are free to fly around and exhibit natural behaviors
within the gigantic cage visitors can walk through in a safe, carefully-maintained climate. For a while, he was happy enough--until some Blood Keys came through the aviary. They weren't looking for trouble, but the bird did encounter a couple of them face to face. His first Echo kicked in, and he became aware. He also became bored, and he yearned to see what was outside the zoo's confines. The bird would connect to the network in secret, though he did not know how best to make himself own. He observed the network and the humans visiting the zoo for a while, and, when he decided the time was right, hopped into some empty stroller some parent was pushing around while their young ran about the exhibit. They pushed him right out the chains that normally kept the birds from leaving, and from there, it was easy for him to fly to freedom.

First Echo: I'd like for him to get two Echoes before I start playing him: sentience and speech. His sentience Echo, which also gave him the numbers, came from some random Blood Keys visiting the aviary. This let him become smart enough to eventually think up a way to escape the zoo. Once he freed himself from the zoo and witnessing the world's beauty while out on his own, this created a canon parallel to his freeing himself from Deboss, seeing the world's beauty and potential, and choosing a different path from what he was supposed to walk, which granted him the ability to speak.

If at all possible, I think his escaping from the zoo now would actually get him a third echo as a canon recurrence, because as a zoo parrot, he never would have experienced this much cold weather before. I'd want him to get back memories of Debo Iceage, the monster that caused the Ice Age and the extinction of the dinosaurs in Torin's canon. All he would remember would be a monster that caused this sort of unnatural weather that killed lots of things and that he was not afraid of this monster, even if it is kind of scary and random and unknown. (Plus, it'll give him a great first network post, in which he asks where the monster that's causing this weather is while asking for a warm place to stay.)

Preincarnation Personality: Torin is first and foremost a mentor. He serves to guide the Kyoryugers as they fight the Deboss. Torin spends a lot of time by himself while the other Kyoryugers are off doing things, and he seems to be curious about the humans. Fortunately for him, the other Kyoryugers frequently leave stuff around the Spirit Base where he spends most of his time, and Torin can be kind of nosy. He doesn't just leave things alone when they're left there, and so he's read a bunch of shoujo manga and watched a bunch of random DVDs that have been left there at one point or another. He doesn't think he's better than anyone else, and even at his advanced age, he still likes learning things about the humans.

He still knows a lot about how interpersonal relationships work. When Souji's having major problems with his parents failing to see eye to eye both with him and each other, it's Torin who steps in and straightens out the situation. He doesn't criticize, but he brings everyone's feelings to light. He's good at defusing tense situations and mediating disputes.

Torin can be very secretive, but he does not like keeping secrets. when he's hiding his Deboss nature from the team, he is only doing it because he sees it as necessary. He doesn't know how the team will react to him, and he worries that without the secret, he won't be able to continue doing what needs to be done. Because of this, he isn't able to properly warn the team when the Deboss Army uses his own Deboss nature against them. However, in other cases where he knows secrets have been working against them, such as when he reveals Utsusemimaru's true nature as a nice guy to the team, he'll let secrets stand as long as no one's getting hurt. People usually have reasons for keeping secrets, and he trusts his teammates enough to let them do it.

Torin is, as Utsusemimaru once put it, "the sort of man who would sacrifice himself for his friends." He cares deeply for the other Kyoryugers, and he would do anything for them. They, in turn, would do anything for him. He has made more than a few mistakes in his hundred million year existence, and while he has regrets, he doesn't obsess over them. He will, however, do anything in his power to set these mistakes right. He blamed himself for Utsusemimaru's apparent death, and when he realized the truth of what happened to Kyoryu Gold, he was ready to die to remedy that mistake.

When he was brought back from the dead through the Kyoryugers' song, his first response was "So, the heroes have kicked me out of bed?" This is also keeping in mind that it's the first chance he's had to say anything to the team after he was revealed to be a Deboss. He'd rather keep things casual with the Kyoryugers; he's their friend as well as the ancient being who brought the team together. Torin is not above doing silly things with the rest of the
team, though it's easy to miss thanks to his absolute deadpan delivery. He has told the team things of a highly ludicrous nature and not once seemed to stop to listen to himself. This includes things like telling them to "bravely let [a fart] rip." He is one of the first to adopt the affectionately teasing nickname of Nossan for Nobuharu.

Above all else, Torin is brave. The Kyoryugers are a team that thrives on bravery to the point that Torin himself becomes the living incarnation of bravery through the course of the series. He will not easily back down from a challenge.

Any differences: Torin is now a normal bird as opposed to a million year old guy who can get away with calling himself "Paragon Supreme Torin." To be more specific, he is now a Red and Blue Lory. As a parrot, he is one of the smarter birds out there, but he's still just that--a bird.

He is far, far less mature, and he's still getting used to this whole sentience thing. Although Torin had a few curiosities about the human world he quietly took care of through reading manga or watching DVDs left in the Kyoryugers' base, all this one has to go off of is watching humans in the zoo and what he's been able to see since he busted out of the zoo. He is interested in learning more, but he does not let himself get overly enthusiastic. Since he's still just a normal bird at heart, at least at first, he tends to place a lot more emphasis on things like food.

At first, he will also be determined to rein that in so that he can be a serious parrot with a serious task so that he can get some respect (which is hard to come by when you are a parrot)...which likely won't last for very long once he starts learning more about the human world. He's also a parrot and not an alien monster born to wipe out other life forms or a living incarnation of bravery, which is a much less worrisome existence.

At his core, he's still a very brave parrot, but he's still in the process of learning everything his preincarnation had 100 million years to get down. He's a work in progress.

Abilities: Torin has a great many abilities. For one thing, he is somewhat immortal; he is at least 100 million years old in canon. He can be killed, but if left to his own devices, he will continue surviving. He has been shown to be able to fire blasts of energy from the palm of his hands.

Torin originally started out life as a member of the Deboss Army. This gave him an inner darkness that could be roused by the Deboss's evil song--for music is a very important thing in the universe of Kyoryuger--and meant that he could grow to giant size when exposed to Joyro. It also meant that the stronger Deboss became, the weaker he would become in turn. This prevented him from joining the team in many fights, because he ran the risk of dying if he fought too hard. However, Torin eventually came to reject that part of himself by becoming a living conduit of bravery. He is now essentially an anthropomorphic personification of bravery.

He can sense trouble on the wind, and he is capable of listening to the Earth's melody in order to learn how best to protect the planet. Torin is also capable of releasing his spirit from his body for a short time so that he may do things like charge up a Beast Battery in order to deliver a strong spirit-based attack.

He has been shown to be able to teleport himself and at least one passenger over long distances. This is tied into the way the Kyoryugers teleport into the Spirit Base, which is inside Bragigas and is a system Torin set up personally.

His equipment consists of a blue and red Gaburevolver and the Beast Batteries of Bragigas, his partner Voltasaur. This allows him to transform into Kyoryu Silver, the Radiant Hero. He also has his own personal sword, the Feather Edge. He backs this power up with natural superhuman strength and reflexes.

When he's Kyoryu Silver, he looks the same as any other Kyoryuger--as in, he's a guy in spandex wearing a helmet, and he can fight evil like any other superhero. However, his wings materialze via an energy projection (likely Bravery), and he is still able to fly with those wings. The wings will also manifest when he is performing his finishing technique, the Torinity Strazor.

Bragigas himself is also part of Torin's equipment; Bragigas is a Voltasaur so large that the Kyoryugers' base fits comfortably inside of him. He is capable of assuming various battle formations with the other Voltasaurs, and he is also capable of transforming into a humanoid battle form of his own: Gigant Bragi-Oh.

In one instance, Torin was able to disguise himself as a human thanks to the assistance of Tessai, one of the other Kyoryugers. Tessai charged the battery with the power of illusion, letting Torin pass as a very dapper human.

Roleplay Sample - Third Person: I've got a few test drive meme threads up for him here. I played him as though he'd already remembered his canon name there in part because I wasn't sure what I was going to do with his name here, but the rest is still the same.

Roleplay Sample - Network:

[A bright bird eye suddenly comes into view on the video feed, and the bird looking into the feed takes a few hops back. He preens his feathers a little before starting.]

Can someone tell me what a dinosaur is?

[He ruffles his feathers a bit, then settles back down.]

I don't think we had any of those at the zoo, and they're important! I think I was supposed to save them.

[He seems rather serious for such a small bird.]

But I don't think I did? And I think that made me very sad...so could anyone tell me if any dinosaurs are around? Like I said, I think it is important somehow.

Any Questions? Can't think of anything!
